I invite you to read Robert Draper's book "Do Not Ask the Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives" for a look at what President Obama has been up against since the day he was inaugurated. The Republican leadership in Congress and other Republicans in Washington made a pact that they would undermine the Obama Administration and obstruct everything the president wanted to do in order to drive down his approval rating and that of the Democratic majority so they could regain the White House and Congress.
DeleteHow do you negotiate or find middle ground with a party that refuses to compromise and comes to the table in bad faith? President Obama did get a lot done his first term, given the opposition, but the Republican Party crossed a line. It used to be that the two parties had an election, one side won, and the two sides went back to working for the American people until the next election. What the 111th and 112th taught us is that one side puts party before principle.
